Synthacer® / Syntricer® Bone Void Filler

Synthacer® in combina on with Syntricer (50:50) also ful lls this requierement. In the well vascularized spon- gious recipient bed Syntricer® ful lls the requierements for damping proper es.
Synthacer®/Syntricer®Ceraball® with, for example, diam- eters of 6 mm and 4 mm, is preferably used as a bone void  ller where it yields an osteoconduc ve structure for a physiological sca old of cancellous bone for pri- mary bone forma on in a lamellar fashion. As a cham- bered material with standardized interconnec ons and strong capillary forces, Synthacer®/Syntricer®Ceraball® represents the gold standard carrier for pluri-poten al mesenchymal cells, adult stem cells and bone marrow, or also cells cultured by  ssue engineering.
Synthacer®/Syntricer® is therefore used in Traumatolo- gy, Orthopaedic Surgery, Reconstruc ve Surgery, Max- illo-Facial Surgery and Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, i.e. for reconstruc on of the “mastoid process”.
The material is used in all kinds of bone defects where shear, tension as well as torsion and high compres- sive forces can be ignored. “Ceramic disease”, caused by rela ve micromovements of the ceramic par cles or by s   implants (screws, metal implants etc.), can be avoided with a combina on of materials providing damping proper es, i.e. morsellized bone preferably of the same size or by a recipient bed with an intact can- cellous bone environment. This results in the so-called “sandwich-implanta on” as a cancellous bone-chip ce- ramic implant: a combina on of intact cancellous bone chips with ceramic granulated material.
