 Synthacer® / Syntricer® Bone Void Filler
Synthacer®/Syntricer®Cylinders are o ered with di erent diameters and a standard length of 25 mm (15 mm for the smaller ones, respectively). e ceramic cylinder- implants represent custom-made bone void llers for donor defects corresponding precisely to diamond coat- ed instruments (SDI®/Diamond TwInSTM) used for joint reconstructions. e cylinders are press- t inserted. ey arrest bleeding immediately and reconstruct the cancellous framework in a physiological manner.
Synthacer®/Syntricer®Cylinders are used as a solid im- plant for press- t insertion and as bone void ller to hermetically close defects with the ceramic cover, i.e. to- wards the musculature in the iliac crest defects to avoid bleeding or loss of marrow or stem cells. A Synthacer®/ Syntricer® Cylinder with a closed surface on one side can be used in the same way. In both cases, the wet grinding diamond (SDI®/Diamond TwInSTM) tool provides a pre- cise bone defect for a tight press- t closure.
Contraindications, Precautions and Warnings
Synthacer®/Syntricer® shall not be applied in cases of os- teomyelitis, non-vascularized bone defects or atrophic non-unions, even when combined with an osteosyn- thesis. As a non-vascularized implant it is not protected against bacterial colonization and should not be used when focal infections are suspected.
Synthacer®/Syntricer® shall not be applied in the case of defects open to the articular joint space or in the active growth plate. Non-stabilized non-unions and amphiar- throses are considered as contraindications for any ce- ramic material.
e material properties of a ceramic such as Synthacer®/ Syntricer®, especially its brittleness, should therefore be taken into consideration. Consequently Synthacer®/Syn- tricer® should never be exposed to shear, bending and tension forces or even high compressive forces or to relative motion. Micro-motion or relative movements of parts of the implants against each other
